Great, subtle lights
We originally bought similar lights by GE, but they seemed too bright, and I didn't like how they flickered. Also, the GE lights took 3 AA batteries each.
My parents bought these Good Tidings lights, so I decided to try them out also. I think they are great, and they take just 2 AA batteries each. The flicker of these candles seems more realistic than the GE brand. An earlier reviewer complained that they weren't bright enough to see from the road 100 feet away. He/She probably should try the GE brand. However, if you want something more quaint and subtle, try these Good Tidings lights. For a small house in a village, they seem perfect.

Not exactly....
This is almost what I was looking for, but it glows orange. From the picture I was expecting white lights, but they are well... orange. Hubby says they look like they are more for Halloween than Christmas... I will see if I can change out the bulbs, but I think somewhere they claimed that you would never need to replace anything so I hope I can get to the bulbs without damaging them.
Other than that, I like the fact they are auto on and auto off. The flicker option is cool too, although I currently have them set to steady.
Great Quality Working Well on Year 2! Update now 3yrs!
I bought 4 of these last year and have used them all year. I added 5 more this year so all windows have them. It is great that they come on at dusk and off at dawn. I get about 2 months running on the 2 C batteries (non-alk). The person who said she got them at Target and they are dim is mistaken. These are not the same ones. I too saw the Target ones and they look like this but are junk. These have a 2 year warranty...what has that these days? My LCD HDTV only has 1 year parts and 90 days labor, it cost a lot more than this candle. Give these a try you will not be disappointed. They look like real fire. They are not white lights..they are the true yellow/orange of a flame.
Update: on 3rd year still just as good as new.
Get it only if you want ORANGE LIGHT.......
We like this product, but please be aware, this product has an orange light/glow. So, my wife thinks its spooky and its more suited for Halloweens. So we concur with a previous review.
Pluses:

orange light, not for christmas,

We will save these for Halloween and shop for other candles for christmas.

They work great for me!!!!! I received the three tier candle in pewter yesterday. The pewter base is actually plastic but does not appear cheesy. I like the fact that they are run by battery and they give off a great amount of light. They all flicker in unison or stay lit steadily depending on how you set the switch. I also like the fact that they are not electric and don't have to worry about leaving them on or getting hot, etc. I've purchased many electric type candles which have only a 90 day lifespan according to the label and the cords are made with lead which they also warn on the cord. I recently spent $50 on the electric candles from Brookstone which cannot be used past 90 days. (not noted in the catalog) My intention was to keep them for years to come, but this battery powered set works great for me and I can keep using them without disposing them/throwing money away. The lights are LED which means there are no bulbs to change either. The price is good as well and depending on how long you use them, batteries are the only thing you will need to buy (3 D size batteries).
Terrific little candles
I love these candles! The base looks like plastic but is not unsightly. I put them in my windows a month ago on flicker mode and they're still going strong. I especially appreciate not having to turn them on and off so I can place them in less accessible places. They make a nice match with the single candlesticks. received one set as a gift. Liked them so much we bought more. Battery operated means no cords hanging from the window. good and bad The light output for the candle lamps is dim - as was stated in other reviews. But, the convenience of the automatic on and off and being cordless is worth it. One problem is that it is a hit or miss to turn the candles on and off manually, and once that is done it is difficult to get them timed to come on at the same time.

These are the best battery operated candles. A realisic candle glow and they do operate as stated. I own a pair of the 9" and the 12". I'm thinking of buying more.

Candles look good in window or on mantle
I bought these after Christmas on sale to use in my windows next year. They are easy to use, the suction cups work pretty well to keep them secure. Insert the 2 AA batteries, screw on the base tightly and the candle is on and ready to go. The gold bases are made of plastic but they look pretty good. The candle bulb is also a rubbery plastic, but it has a pretty yellow/orange glow. The candles do come on the same time every day. They could come in handy to use in a hard-to-reach location, since they don't need to be turned on every day. The batteries last for a long time in them. I have had mine going for around 6 weeks straight and the batteries are still going.

Have an exquisite tree! Your Christmas tree will be exquisite with these on it! I purchased one box at a local closeout 3 years ago and was sad that I couldn't get any more. This year, I found them on Amazon and was thrilled, so I bought 3 more boxes for my 9 foot tree.
I get compliments from everyone that sees my tree. These flicker just like real candle flames and look better and better the more you perch them on the tips of the branches, as you would with a real candle.
